Despite the liberal tilt, this article offers a somewhat fair assessment of the situation over here right now. Maliki is turining into a hardliner and really starting to garner the respect of the people. The establishment of a "conditions-based" timetable is neccesary but should never be made public. hm, i've also heard from a couple guys who are over there that many iraqis want the US troops there for their own protection. have you seen this at all, or perhaps the general will is changing?

The general population def wants us to stay. They are very scared of the prospect of us leaving. They would keep us here forever if they could.
